Alex Dorotik, Founder, Ingenuity Law Colorado

Alex is, at his core, a trial attorney. He has taken well over 100 civil and criminal cases to jury trial, and has litigated countless motions, court trials, arbitrations, and mediations. He has argued in front of Colorado County and District Courts, the Colorado Court of Appeals, Colorado Federal District Court, and the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals.

His goal, in any dispute, is to resolve the dispute to the client’s satisfaction as efficiently and favorably as possible. He knows how to communicate with the other side and position the case in the most favorable way for the client. As every case is different, sometimes immediately filing a lawsuit is the best strategic move, and other times agreeing to a quick mediation is better.

Alex understands that most clients simply want their disputes resolved (of course in a way that is beneficial to them) and to get back to running their businesses and living their lives. 

Prior to starting his firm, Alex was the Deputy City Attorney/Litigator for two municipalities, Lakewood and Englewood. In those roles, he represented the municipalities in court in many diverse disputes, from allegations of civil rights violations (‘1983’ cases), wrongful terminations, CORA violations, tax and TABOR disputes, campaign finance violations, and general tort allegations. 

That experience and inside knowledge of how governmental entities work allows Alex to quickly and efficiently resolve all manner of disputes with governmental entities – some of which may even not be true disputes in that oftentimes governmental entities are difficult to navigate and deal with and may appear to be oppositional when actually they are just stuck in their procedures. Alex is uniquely positioned to assist clients in such disputes. 

Prior to his work with municipalities, Alex spent almost a decade as a deputy district attorney, trying and prosecuting cases ranging from DUI to First Degree Murder.
